Yew Tree Terrace

Opened in 2026, Yew Tree Terrace offers a new option for the permanent placement of cremated remains within the historic grounds of St. John’s Cemetery in San Mateo.

Designed as a peaceful and lasting place of remembrance, Yew Tree Terrace includes three columbarium sections—A, B, and C—with both single and companion niches available. It is open to individuals and families of all backgrounds who wish to make St. John’s Cemetery their final resting place.

Yew Tree Terrace offers two types of niches:

Single Niches
Designed for the cremated remains of one person.

Companion Niches
Designed for the cremated remains of two people.

All three columbarium sections share the same pricing structure. Pricing is based on the height of the niche rather than its location in Section A, B, or C.

Single Niches: $5,500–$7,500
Companion Niches: $10,500–$15,000

These are introductory prices and are subject to change. Please contact the cemetery for current pricing and availability.

The niche purchase includes the interment right for one person in a single niche or two people in a companion niche. Interment services, recordation, and inscription fees are separate charges and will be reviewed with you during the arrangement process.

Families are welcome to visit Yew Tree Terrace and view available niches in person. Our staff can help explain the available locations, answer questions, and assist you in selecting a niche that is right for you or your family.

Urn requirements, inscription options, and other details related to memorialization are reviewed individually when arrangements are made.

Yew Tree Terrace niches may also be selected in advance for future use. Pre-planning allows individuals and families to make cemetery arrangements ahead of time and make their wishes known.

St. John’s Cemetery has served the San Mateo community since 1885. Yew Tree Terrace continues that tradition by providing a permanent place where family and friends can visit, remember, and honor those who have died.
